I was talking to a friend about all the ideas he sent me in 2004 [Jeeves that is a long time ago!] and I listed off "why" it wasn't y fault that things hadn't progressed!
Also the plan called for setting up our training company overseas - the start was India where after 2 years our licences were on-sold to an American [without our knowledge or permission] for a mouth watering amount of money - I have had an aversion to dealing with Indian Business people since.
We set up in the UK, and after licencing BSUK to a local but hit a brick wall when he died of cancer. [The UK is a place that has dark memories]
We set up in New Zealand, held a number of successful events but New Zealand collapsed when the local partner sided with the NZ Government and sold us out - I would love to holiday there but I am sure how much it would cost a lot to leave!
We had a very lucrative training business in the Middle East but Donald Trump made a deal that pushed our partners towards Turkey and Iran... so Immediately I thought the business went to zero from a minimum of US$10 million lump sum value. Our partner said it would resolve in 6 weeks but that was 4 years ago.
The "forever job" was to be speaking on cruise ships - I did a month on a new vessel [Spectrum of the Sea] from Barcelona to Singapore, but I didn't adjust to the opportunity and felt the month was "wasted" talking to rich old people who weren't interested in new technology [ my subject area] and then Covid-19 hit!
Until very recently I have spent my time blaming everyone for this tale of wow.. rather than seeing that if most things fail [ as they do - Dyson tried over 5000 ways before he perfected the new Vacuum Cleaner] but now I see this as a learning curve and when my friend gave me a revised plan I could see that all these setbacks weren't that if I could see that I was just failing forward!
Plus I feel much better!
