The Refrigerator did away with the iceman and the milko... because you didn't need ice to keep things cold and milk could be purchased at the supermarket and there was no need to have it delivered...
The upside... how many jobs have been added due to refrigeration?? Hundreds I would suggest but we couldn't imagine them beforehand.
